Sola Wood Flower Artist in Georgetown, Texas - Meet Sam!

Supporting local business and connecting with our vibrant Georgetown community since 2025.

Hi, I'm Sam — the artist and 2020 bride behind Sola Flower Sam. What started as leftover wedding flowers and a creative outlet during lockdown has blossomed into a full-time passion for creating handmade wood flowers for brides across the Austin area.
How a Zoom Wedding Started It All
Like so many 2020 brides, I had the wedding of my dreams planned — and then COVID-19 shut down the world. Our venue closed. Our date evaporated. Everything we'd imagined just...stopped.
My now-husband Andrew and I were faced with a decision: wait indefinitely for "normal" to return, or create our own version of normal. We chose the latter. In April 2020, we got married over Zoom in the kitchen of our apartment, with Andrew's grandfather officiating from his home. It wasn't the fairy tale wedding I'd envisioned, but it was ours — intimate, meaningful, and filled with love despite the distance.
The unexpected part? I was left with a collection of wood flowers I'd purchased for our original celebration. As someone who's always loved crafting and creating, I couldn't let them go to waste.
Finding Joy in the Details
I started repurposing those wood flowers — experimenting with paint colors, arranging stems, gifting bouquets to friends and family. What began as a way to salvage wedding decor quickly became my favorite creative outlet. There's something meditative about hand-painting each petal while listening to my favorite podcast Crime Junkies or diving into an audiobook about Mt Everest disasters (my current obsession).
Unlike fresh flowers that wilt and fade, wood flowers are permanent keepsakes. They can withstand Texas heat, they won't trigger allergies, and they look just as beautiful on your tenth anniversary as they did on your wedding day. For brides planning outdoor ceremonies in Central Texas, that matters.
A Family Effort From Day One
This business wouldn't exist without my family. They were the ones who encouraged me to take my hobby public — to set up a booth at the Georgetown Christmas Stroll, to showcase my work at the Red Poppy Festival. They believed in these handmade sola wood flowers before anyone else did.
Every bouquet I create carries that support with it. This isn't just my business; it's a family effort built on encouragement, late night brainstorming, and a shared belief that permanent wedding flowers deserve a place in the Austin wedding community.

Meet Ally: My Littlest Helper
My daughter Ally was just five years old when I started painting wood flowers, and she's been part of this journey from day one. She's watched every single order come to life in our home, painted flowers just for fun, and become my go-to helper when it comes to assembling delivery bags and adding those finishing touch "thank you" stickers.
There's something special about building a business that my daughter can be proud of — one that shows her the value of creativity, hard work, and turning something you love into something meaningful.
Going Full-Time in 2025
In October 2025, I made the leap. What started as a part-time creative project became my full-time passion. Now, I'm dedicated to serving brides and event planners throughout the Austin area with custom wood flower arrangements that tell their unique stories.
Whether you're a bride searching for wedding flowers that match your exact color palette, or you're planning an outdoor Texas ceremony where heat resistant blooms are essential, I'm here to bring your vision to life — one hand-painted petal at a time.
Your Vision, Your Exact Colors
One of the things I love most about working with wood flowers is the ability to match any wedding color palette exactly. Using a Behr paint color-matching system, I hand-paint each flower to coordinate with your unique vision — whether that's soft pastels, bold jewel tones, or trendy color combinations like coral and sage.
Your flowers should fit your day perfectly, and with custom wood flowers, there's no settling. We create the exact shades you're dreaming of.
